Soft Croissants
Package Design
The goal for this project was to take an existing product and redesign the packaging. I chose Soft Croissants, a treat available at local grocery stores in the United States because the current packaging is so unattractive that it gave me a blank slate in which to work.
The Moodboard
The target audience for Soft Croissants comprises busy families and professionals who want to grab something tasty and quick for breakfast on the go. The moodboard embraces the aesthetic of a French-style bakery. Even if the consumer is rushed, they can enjoy a French bakery's slow, relaxed pace.
The Original Packaging
The current package design is so unappetizing that it’s hard to believe this product is still on the shelf. The front of the package features a croissant oozing filling. The sickly yellow background does nothing to stimulate the appetite. The hideousness of the current packaging gave me a blank slate on which to work.
The Solution
I created three tasty flavors for Soft Croissant. The package design features attractive photography. I used color and patterns to differentiate between the flavors. The simple design allows the brand to expand its flavor options.
Reflection
The goal was to create a package design product that appears as the best, most convenient, and tastiest choice among the stacks of donuts, snack cakes, bagels, and coffee cakes in the breakfast snack aisle. Would you pick up a box? I would!
